On this day four years ago, Mr Narendra Modi took charge as the
Prime Minister of India. He led his party to an emphatic victory, a victory in
which the people chose a single party after over three decades. The people were
bowled over by his promise of ‘Acche Din’ and muscular approach during
campaigns. After four years, it is time to assess Mr Modi’s performance in key
aspects of administration.
Foreign Policy
The Foreign Policy of the Modi Government took off to a great start with
all the SAARC leaders being invited for the swearing-in ceremony. But this
government proved that its attention span is short by failing to capitalise on
the initiative. Today, there is no policy towards Pakistan; Mr Modi is clueless
as far as Nepal and Sri Lanka are concerned. Maldives is throwing tantrums all
along and the ’56 inch chest’ Prime Minister is happy playing second fiddle to
China.
Economy
The economy is under acute stress due to rampant mismanagement on part
of the government. They made our economy seem like a lab by conducting hopelessly
illogical experiments such as demonetisation. They broke the back of small and
medium industry with the poorly designed GST and rubbed salt on the wounds of unemployed
graduates by asking them to sell pakodas.
Agriculture
The rural areas are under acute distress. Uncertain weather,
demonetisation and faulty policies have destroyed the lives of farmers. The
economic survey admits that the farmer has become poorer and poorer over the
last four years. By refusing to waive farm loans, an ambiguous MSP policy and
promising to double farm incomes by 2022, the Modi Government has proved that
it does not have any roadmap as far as agriculture is concerned.
Security
This government has completely alienated the people of Jammu &
Kashmir from the rest of the country. Ceasefire violation, militant
infiltration, civilian and security casualties, all of them are at an all-time
high since Kargil War. Mr Modi has not reached out to the people of J&K and
seems to be completely confused.
Well said. This is the reality of Modi Government which bhakts don't understand.
